The author addresses the adoptive experience as a process involving individuals or couples who desire a child and also children or adolescents who need and have the right to live with a family. It raises the history about the institute of adoption and about the context of institutionalization. It presents questions about the bond of love as the basis of the formation of psychological development. It addresses the difficulties of parents and children both in the adaptation phase of the child to the new family and in the dynamics of the family in later years. Emphasizes the importance of family therapy as necessary to deal with the intrinsic vicissitudes of adoptive attachment.
