San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA)

The Revista Brasileira de Terapia Familiar (RBTF), a scientific journal of the Brazilian Association of Family Therapy (ABRATEF), recognizes the importance of promoting responsible, transparent, and ethical research assessment practices, valuing the quality, relevance, and scientific contribution of published works.

The San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) is an international initiative dedicated to improving research assessment practices. RBTF supports its principles and is committed to promoting an evaluation approach that considers the content and contribution of scholarly work, avoiding the use of journal-based metrics as a substitute for the individual assessment of articles and their authors.

In line with these principles, RBTF will continuously seek to improve its editorial policies and guidelines for authors and reviewers, valuing different forms of scientific contribution and taking into account the specificities of the Social Sciences and Humanities.

RBTF became a signatory of DORA in August/2026 and will maintain this commitment as part of its ongoing process of improving research assessment practices.
